DNC Protest
2004-07-27
A day before the DNC (Democratic National Convention) in Boston. We have rappers, Haitian refugees, anti-government Koreans, unions, Marxist Gothics, punks, veterans, Cubans, FaLunGongers, 2 photographers for every one of those weirdos and 3 riot cops for every moving human.
I think I just wrote the definition of a Zoo.

Tri-x has been out of stock for a while now from B&H - I heard they are having legal issues with the imported product, which is $2.19 per roll. It doesn't seem like the beloved Tri-x will come back any time soon.
Maybe it's time to try out some HP5 now.

Back to the freakish Coney Island, mecca of street photography (hell, which part of NYC isn't?). The party is smaller and milder than I thought - well, at least I didn't see no girl peeing in the middle of a crowd like last Halloween. After all, it's a good party, we just need more (slim) mermaids, less photographers (!) and a bottle of 40 SPF sun tan lotion to make it perfect. Oh, add "whoever poses for photographers should be executed on the spot" to that.

I liked this place almost immediately as soon as I checked into this modest wooden hostel in the Sandia Crest mountain area. - not only is it quiet, cozy, it's also clean (well, comparing to most hostels) and friendly. Under a sky full of incredibly bright stars, I had enjoyed the night chatting with fellow travelers out on those lawn chairs while a pleasant mountain breeze passes by. Oh did I mention they raise a couple of donkeys too?
